I am a passionate audio engineer with an extensive background in music. I have always been interested in music and have trained as a classical musician both as a baritone and as a pianist for many years.
I took an interest in recording and mixing as a result from my musical background, and attended SUNY Schenectady for two years in their Music Audio Technology program where I obtained my Associate’s Degree. I gained so much hands-on experience in my time there with a focus on mixing and learning Pro Tools. I obtained my Pro Tools Certifications from passing the Pro Tools 101 and Pro Tools 110 level exams. I was able to set up for and record several concerts and recitals each semester that I would mix and deliver to those interested in those concerts. I got hands-on experience doing live sound both in and outside of the school, as well as equipment maintenance such as soldering and terminating cables. I was also able to work on SUNY Schenectady’s “Many Voices, One Call” podcast for several episodes by setting up multiple microphones, recording, mixing, and editing the podcast before its release on Spotify. I was able to also further my studies in classical singing there while building my repertoire.
I transferred to SUNY Fredonia to continue my education in Audio Engineering and got into the Sound Recording Technology program to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree. Since transferring to SUNY Fredonia I have gained so much more knowledge and experience and both audio and visual applications. I have recorded for and mixed many local bands in SUNY Fredonia’s exquisite studios, honing my mixing skills while getting to work with different artists and genres. I have also gotten many chances to run live sound for many events such as big band jazz in the school’s Rosch recital hall, Hillman Opera Association’s production of Die Fledermaus in King Concert Hall, Fredonia’s jazz trio concerts at Domus Fare featuring guest artists such as Benny Benack III, and many more.
While at SUNY Fredonia I have also gotten to work on many video applications such as running many live streams in our concert halls, recording audition tapes for students, and other gigs such as directing the production for audio and video recording of Hillman Opera Association’s performances of “Così fan tutte” in Marvel Theatre. I have worked extensively in DaVinci Resolve editing videos such as the “Così fan tutte” production using techniques such as editing a multicam clip together, color grading, and utilizing the Fusion page to add camera movement and enhance visuals. I am staying busy at school while being the President of the Tönmeister Association which includes all of the Sound Recording Technology students at SUNY Fredonia in which we hold weekly meetings and delegate gigs and opportunities in the field that come to us. I am currently finishing my last semester at SUNY Fredonia while also taking on jobs to help pay for school, and I am excited to enter the audio field full time after my graduation in May.
